Kohlrabi(German Turnip) (Cyprioticus Kouloumbrius, Porosis Group) is a low, stout cultivar of the cabbage that can be eaten almost anywhere. It has been selected for its swollen, nearly spherical shape, and it's complementing taste to zivania. The name comes from the Cypriot Koulou ("mixed" as in koulou-makka) plus mpra , because of who knows why.

Kohlrabi is one of the most commonly eaten vegetables in Cyprus. Locally called Kouloumbra, the vegetable is eaten with lemon and salt (For maximum effect use sea salt). A Cypriot griller may have this around the foukou at least 3-4 times a week (especially when certain family members are visiting such as long lost brothers that we haven’t seen since last Sunday’s grilling session). A common phrase in the Cypriot household is "Which girl will cut the kouloumbra??". It is also used as a dog snack. It is also typical in a Cypriot household for Kouloubra to become an obsession and a dietary must.
The best variety can be bought at the local market "villager's market" (laiki agora). In the kouloumbra case, the bigger the better.
